“Elaine Howell’s fiction delicately probes the complexity of the human
psyche, the sometimes-terrible things we do in the name of love and
the ferocity with which we long for transcendence. Her stories achieve
an exquisite balance of tension and grace, and leave you thinking
about them after you’ve put down the page." Terry Wolverton “Her
prose cradles the reader in nostalgic worlds rich with pathos and
empathy. Her stories are at once painful and life affirming. One never
leaves without feeling they have been on an eloquently strange and
plaintive journey." David Ciminello "Writing that comes with three
guarantees: gorgeous prose, novel insight, and deeply layered
characters. Her sumptuous language and unique voice elevate
conventional circumstances to a consequential journey you want to
take again and again" R.L. Jackson
